4-2 Backup, Restore and Undo Last Restore Utilities



To backup a WAN item:

1. Make sure that all the applications running on the source station are installed

on the target restoration station. If not, when performing a restore on the

target station, an error message will appear ONLY when restoring a submap,

and not when restoring a complete hierarchy.

2. Click one of the following icons: WAN Root Submap, WAN Submap or WAN

Agent.

3. From the Misc menu, select RADview/OV > General > Backup.

The Backup File Name dialog box appears.

4. Enter a filename for the backup file in the dialog box and click <Apply>.

 If the filename already exists, select <OK> if you want to overwrite the

old file. If the file does not have write permission, RADview-HP OpenView

aborts the request.

Restore

The Restore utility restores the full configuration of a previously backed up WAN

item. Any one of the following items may be restored:

• WAN Root Map

• WAN Submap

• WAN Agent

• Connection Names.

The Restore utility has several purposes:

• Restoring a deleted WAN item.

• Creating a new WAN item based on the configuration and information of

another WAN item.

• Creating a new WAN item based on the configuration and information of

another WAN item with variations.
