5-4 The Port and Card Levels
To set the poll interval temporarily:
1. Verify which shell your workstation is operating in (bin/sh, bin/zsh, bin/csh or
bin/tcsh).
If your workstation operates in bin/csh or bin/tcsh:
2. Exit HP OpenView.
3. Enter the following command: setenv NG164_WAN_POLL_INTERVAL [no. of
seconds]
4. Press Enter and type ovw& to return to HP OpenView.
If your workstation operates in bin/sh or bin/zsh:
5. Type the following command: MNG164_WAN_POLL_INTERVAL=[no.
of seconds]; export MNG164_WAN_POLL_INTERVAL
6. Press Enter and type ovw& to return to HP OpenView.
To set the poll interval permanently:
1. Verify which shell your workstation is operating in (bin/sh, bin/zsh, bin/csh or
bin/tcsh).
If your workstation operates in bin/csh or bin/tcsh:
2. Edit the .login file in the user home directory.
3. Type the following command: setenv MNG164_WAN_POLL_INTERVAL [no.
of seconds]
4. Save the file.
5. Log out and log in again.
If your workstation operates in bin/sh or bin/zsh:
6. Edit the .profile file in the user home directory.
7. Type the following command: MNG164_WAN_POLL_INTERVAL=[no. of
seconds]; export MNG164_WAN_POLL_INTERVAL
8. Save the file.
9. Log out and log in again.
